Through this joint study, Cosmax is in charge of the commercialization process that applies local native plant materials to cosmetic formulations. Bandung Institute of Technology focuses on discovering materials such as △ anti-acne, △ antioxidant, and whitening efficacy, using locally grown plants such as banana flowers, tropical tea trees, and cinnamon.

“The joint research with Cosmax will be a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of the ASEAN cosmetics industry by utilizing Indonesia's rich biological resources,” said Daryono Hardy, Dean of ITB Pharmacy College.

The two sides will conduct clinical trials with the goal of developing four efficacy materials over the next two years. The developed ingredients will be registered with the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

“The plan is to gradually expand to natural cosmetics as well as halal cosmetics using materials unique to Southeast Asia until 2022,” said Min-kyung Jeong, Cosmax Indonesia's head of business. “This agreement will expand into the world by integrating Indonesian raw materials and Korean cosmetic technology. It will be the first step to go. ”
