Cosmax develops 'halal cosmetics' with Bandung Institute of Technology(ITB), Indonesia
Cosmax, one of the biggest cosmetic OEM/ODM manufacturers in the world, announced on February 6 that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cosmetic development by jointly researching local native plant materials with Bandung Institute of Technology(ITB).
“The joint research with Cosmax will be a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of the ASEAN cosmetics industry by utilizing Indonesia's rich biological resources,” said Daryono Hardy, Dean of ITB Pharmacy College.
The two sides will conduct clinical trials with the goal of developing four efficacy materials over the next two years. The developed ingredients will be registered with the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).
“The plan is to gradually expand to natural cosmetics as well as halal cosmetics using materials unique to Southeast Asia until 2022,” said Min-kyung Jeong, Cosmax Indonesia's head of business. “This agreement will expand into the world by integrating Indonesian raw materials and Korean cosmetic technology. It will be the first step to go. ”
